I've lost my sneakers

I've lost my sneakers and I want them back.

It feels like everything is out of whack.

So the way that I cope, is I hope and I hope

That I'll figure out how to recover the lack.

I have other shoes that fit like a glove,

But those aren't the sneakers that I wear and I love.

So, I press on with this and press on with that

Knowing there's more than one way to skin a cat.

I'll live my life but I won't give up.

I'll search and I'll think while I work and I sup.

And I know that my efforts will pay off in the end

When my sneakers are found on my feet once again.

The brilliant Dr. Seuss wrote, "If you can see things out of whack, then you can see how things can be in whack."

When you feel like your life has been disrupted, that's the time you realize that it was once perfectly rupted. And so you can do something about it. One thing I've told clients and friends for years is that you can not go backwards. We live our lives in one direction only, even when it feels like we keep repeating patterns. Even if we do repeat behaviors (positive or negative) we're always living those behaviors in the present.

So, don't despair, smile when you can, and get going on making those changes you want in your life.
