Everything counts

I have a few favorite phrases (happy to add to my list anytime if you want to send me yours) that I like to quote. One is Annie Dillard's "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."

There are many others but they make a similar point. Everything counts. What you think counts. What you do counts. What you don't do counts. What you pay attention to or ignore counts. Your thoughts, your words, your actions count. Everything counts -- your choices, changing your mind, who and what you care about, your wishes, your dreams. They all count. What's in your head counts. What's in your heart counts. You. You count.

It all counts. Everything. And if that sounds a bit overwhelming, don't let it. Because, while everything counts, you can't be everything at once -- at least not on a three-dimensional, practical level. You have to do and be who and what you are now. Let that count. Make it count. Keep doing that. And if you do, as Annie Dillard said, that is how you will live your life.

I hope this is your favorite day.

Peace and love to you.
