Slow down

May 4, 2020

I don't know about you but, for me, the unintended consequences of the pandemic are mixed.

On the one hand, I've had the time to devote to building a website to back up the launch of a new service I'm calling Lectio 360. It is a twice-weekly 30-minute guided contemplation for personal spiritual growth, and I'll be announcing the launch of the website and service in the next few weeks. I'm very excited about it and I've spent over a year researching, writing, reading and preparing. You will certainly be invited to join in if it suits you. God knows, in times like we are living now, we could all use a little quiet contemplation time. And you can do it from the privacy of your own connection. Which leads me to the other side of this time....

Today I tried to dissolve a cloud with my mind.

(Yup. You read that right. And, by the way, there are so many links from the psychic believers to the kooky to the skeptical that I'm not even going to provide one. Google it and see for yourself.)

Here's the thing. It worked. So, yeah. I reeeeaaaaallllly slowed down today. It is not something I'd normally do, because on a normal weekend day, I'd be running errands, doing chores, maybe meeting family or friends for dinner, tackling a project that I've been putting off all week...you get the idea. I'd have saved my weekend for stuff I wanted to do but that I was too busy to get to all week. And of course, I would have rushed through the weekend getting as many things done as I could so I'd be ready to start working on Monday.

And I'd probably be exhausted.

So while spending two hours watching clouds wasn't really on my agenda for the weekend, and while there was a time when I would have surely not been able to sit still for that, things have changed. I have slowed down.

And it wasn't so bad.

Wishing you a week ahead of balance, self-sustenance and compassion for yourself and others.
